Last year I collaborated with photographer Adriaan Louw on a shoot including some of my products…the shots are crazy. I love them!!
As of the first of November, I will personally donate one indigenous tree to Greenpop.org on behalf of every client that buys a product made in any part of wood from me.
Greenpop is an amazing organisation that plants tree’s in undergreened schools in South Africa.

This week we launched our new Balafon Chairs, inspired by the form and construction of the West African Balafon (xylophone).
For this product we developed system where a single seat slat is cut to include a clip on the base of each slat. The slats clip onto a metal frame, and when placed next to one another create a surface for sitting.
There are 4 slats available, which means you can customise the seat according to your needs.
Hope you like it!

This month we added two new seats to our Signature Range, namely The Crag Chair, and the new Lowveld stool.
Both stackable and available as barstools.
Hope you like!

It’s been a long time coming, ( a year and a half to be exact), but last week we finally finished our Bacchus Chair, which is constructed from the staves of a single wine barrel. The chair forms part of our growing Micro Collection, (The Micro collection, is a range of products manufactured only in vernacular manufacturing techniques by local micro industry. The materials used for this collection are sourced only from Southern Africa.)
Hope you like it…

I’m really excited about a new project I’m embarking on!
We’ve recently started working with a local perfumer on a range of scented candles for the store. You can imagine that the process of designing a scent isn’t a simple one. As I’m beginning to learn, you can’t just bang a couple of essences together and hope for the best.
The really exciting part of the process for me, is that although you’re trying to create an appealing smell by carefully considering the top, middle and base notes, what you’re essentially doing is writing a story you hope the user can identify.
We hope to launch the candle in about a months time. Until then I can’t give too much away, other than to say, that you can expect a very rich and masculine scent…
Watch this space!
Cheers

Our friends at Coord, have started a project where they ask various people to create a piece …actually let them describe it.
“COORD has ‘commissioned’ a number of our creative friends to indulge in a spot of napkin doodling. We call the series (and you’ve got to love this title): ‘NAPKINATION-DESIGNA-DOODLE’.”
Have a look at our contribution…The idea was to create a kind of Rorschach test…what do you see? :)
cheers

We are so! excited about the launch of our new product, The Shona Lamp. The lamp was carved in Harare, Zimbabwe by a family of sculptors that work in the traditional Shona method. The green Opal stone was sourced from the Guruve mines in Zimbabwe.
The Shona Lamp is an addition to our new Micro range, which aims to promote local skills, materials and manufacturing methods.
Hope you like it!
What is the point of having a blog if one can’t blatantly promote your your sister’s work.
