Started in 2006, Liam Mooney is a South African design and manufacturing company of furniture, lighting and accessories. We are passionate about creating quality products that are simple, innovative and that we feel are relevant ‘at the time, for the time’. In addition to our Signature and Micro collection’s, we also offer bespoke furniture design and interior design services.
The studio’s work has been shown in exhibitions in and around Scandinavia, New York and London. We have also been featured extensively in the local and international design media, most notably, DOMUS (Italy), (Inside) Australian Design Review, Elle Italia, Travel & Leisure (USA), and Wallpaper Magazine, which named us as ‘one of the top 20 reasons to be in South Africa in 2011’.
Services:
Bespoke furniture -
The studio offers a full bespoke furniture design service for private clients and interior designers, in which we will work with your brief to conceptualise and manufacture one off pieces of furniture for both residential and commercial projects.
Interior Design -
We offer services for both residential and commercial interior projects using our in-house range of products and bespoke furniture. In addition to the design and conceptualisation, we also personally manage our projects, working closely with manufacturers and contractors to ensure that the highest standards of quality are met.
Bio -
Liam Mooney studied Industrial design, at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, and after graduating in 2006 he started his own range of furniture under his own name. At the same time he joined forces with Justin Rhodes and Cameron Munro to start the Whatiftheworld / Design Studio. The studio focussed on promoting the work of emerging South African designers.
In 2008 his Arc Lamp, won the best lighting design award for the South African leg of the Elle Decoration International Design Awards.
Some information about our furniture and products:
All of the solid timber we use is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) approved. FSC is an international non-profit, multi-stakeholder organization established in 1993 to promote responsible management of the world’s forests.
All wood is either lacquered or oiled and waxed in natural and organic products.
We only use Southern African manufacturers to make our products.
The lead time for our homeware and products is 3 weeks, and 4-6 weeks (unless otherwise discussed) for all furniture.
